Anthony Owa is a Consultant ENT Surgeon and Neuro-otologist at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital. He specialises in Otolaryngology, ear surgery (including endoscopic ear surgery), rhinology, ENT in children and adults. He is the designer of the “Owa grommet” – a tiny ventilation tube for the treatment of glue ear (middle ear disease).
After qualifying in medicine at the University of Benin, Nigeria, Mr Owa trained in both London and Cambridge, before joining the North Thames Oto-laryngology specialist training programme in 1997. He later completed a fellowship in Utah, USA, for which he was awarded the American Neuro-otology Society Fellows Award for 2002.
Mr Owa subsequently joined Barking, Havering and Redbridge University NHS Trust in 2003 as an ENT surgeon and Neuro-otologist offering a wide range of surgery, including specialised otology and lateral skull base surgery. He was made a fellow of the West Africa College of Surgeons for his work training ENT surgeons and charity surgical missions. In 2017 he obtained an MSc in medical otology and audiology and spent time offering consultant audiovestibular consultant support to Wood Street childhood hearing centre. He is now in full time private practice having left the NHS in 2019
